Music: A Conversation & A half

Image
📷 AlphaColor My soul lifts up, slowly as the beat take controls of my body. Slowly, then quickly and then slowly again. Lost in the tunes, every time the tune plays it becomes fused in every bone of my bone, bloodstream, and state of mind. A reaction following suit to the beat…When music comes on it is a scene of weird gestures and sounds. T ap, clap, yell… Sway side to side resonating with the beat… OH YESS, WOOHOO… Even if the language is foreign or I don’t know the lyrics, music has a way to speak to us. Am I right? Music is more than just a beat and words, it is a part of life. It shares our sorrow, love, joy, confusion and any emotion you think about! Music is a slice of our daily heaven. Even while I’m penning this article, I’m listening to some “Jhene Aiko” tunes. Even buses, taxis or cars blast music and if not you see people with their earphones plugged. It is really fascinating how music comes together with our daily routines. A mystery I tend

Adulting They Call It! A Day In The Life Of An Adult...

Image
📷 Hulst Wilson It was a summer morning the smell of the fresh coffee brewing filled the air – the chill breeze and the scent of the clean-shaven glass. The shrieking clock slapped me back to reality, it was time to begin adulting. For so long I was living with my parents and feeding off them. The day has dawned for me to journey into a land of no hope – job hunting ! It had become known that jobs were for the privileged and the well-connected fellas. But this didn’t mess my mantra and optimism . What a shame everyone was caught up in the web of corruption and nepotism. Tick tock… The clock sang a song of hope. I had clothes bought specially for this day rather for the last time it came from my parents’ pension. I cleared my mind and the never-dying song of unemployment from my classmates and some from streams ahead. In my head, 8 o’clock was a date, a chance to be what I always dreamt of. I hurriedly bathed, late was never part of my vocabulary. The words of my mentor vivid

Why Millennial Generation Fame Is Toxic ( How To Make it Better)

📷  Chris Murray I'm no genie in a bottle or a fortune teller but honestly speaking what really constitutes a person's value? Because of the whole looking down upon people basing on their background, it is not only disgusting but worrying. We say it jokingly that money talks, but in its truest sense, the world is slowly adapting that mentality. You see people obscene posts, and it gets you thinking what really does this person draw value from. Okay! So what exactly is the value? Simply it is the importance, worth, or usefulness of something. It is such a great concern. At least for me. How can one solely be judged on material things that can easily disappear in the blink of an eye? Does it go back to how we were raised, or we are just an ignorant Generation? Built on the premises of what do you have to offer in terms of money, gadgets, possessions and all that jazz that supposedly determine how one is respected. Let's grow up, there are more issues we should rat

This Is "My" Story

📷  Samantha Qeja I bleed, A subliminal feeling, burying me in the depths of sorrow Crying out for help, but all it is noise They tell me to say what I feel but that's all there is Why don't you ever open up...? When I do I get crucified for it You are not ambitious, You are careless, You are no good Me opening up becomes their weapon to further shoot me down The bad lingers as the good slowly become reference of what I could be A good deed is accompanied by a but... Only if you did it like this or this way, it could have been better Wait! What about what I want? All I am, a portrait of people's ambitions and opinions Molded in what they think is good for me Do you even know me? A shadow of what you purport me to be I bleed,  Because no one understands my story Hold up... Understanding means they know at least something Have a tiny glimpse, but I don't think they even know me Okay, here is my story... I lost my father at a te

A Slave Of / To Procrastination? Here Are Tips To Overcome It !

Image
We often make our life choices based on value, time/ impulsivity, and expectancy. Somehow if a plan doesn’t fall into the favorable categories, we tend to switch off the sense of emergency to complete the task. Have you ever noticed that there are certain tasks that you leave on your to-do list for a few hours – weeks or rather too long? Ever wondered what could be the reason?  Then, this week’s entry speaks to you. Take a deep breath, clear your mind and pay attention. In big capital letters, it is PROCRASTINATION.  In the words of David Ballard, head of the Psychological Associations Centre for Organisational Excellence, “Procrastination it is not just avoiding or delaying of a task. It also has to include an aspect that is counter-productive, irrational or unnecessary." The way I see it, there are two paths in any given scenario, that is taking on a task and endure pain at the moment or the other long difficult path of delaying or postponing swaying from the bigger p

#Signs It Is Time For You To Be Courageous & Take What You Want

📷 Jonathan Daniels "You can get in life what you have courage to ask for " - Oprah Winfrey When it comes to life don’t be humble and meek, take on whatever life gives you. There is a better way to take on life, that is, to be specific about what you want. As our Shona idiom goes, “Mwana asinga cheme anofira mumbereko” which simply translates to, “You only get what you have the courage to ask for.” It is the only en route to success and getting what you want. It costs zero dollars to take charge of your life, be assertive – combine your confidence with control. Trust me it is like a magnet to get attention, a step forward to getting what you want. Growing up I was a reserved and quiet person. Never asked for anything or complained. It was rooted in me and my way of life. Up until I realized that if I don’t ask for much I won’t get much. Your soul and mind will give precisely what you unconsciously tell it, nothing more or nothing less. Being a considerate soun

5 Tips To Steam Up Your Love On #ThisValentinesDay

📷 Raw Pixel “I love you.” The magical three little words have a deeper meaning, and yet many people somehow fall short of expressing how they truly feel. Actions speak louder than words, and today, Valentine’s Day is really about saying “I love you” in more meaningful ways. Here are creative ways to express your love to your love bug... 1. Leave hide-and-seek love letters. Write little love notes to your mate and leave them in unexpected places where they will eventually be found, such as in a sock drawer, a packed lunch or even in the freezer. That way, they will regularly be surprised by your thoughtfulness. 2. Create an “I love you Because” booklet. How do I love you? Let me count the ways… If you can come up with at least a lot of deck standard-size cards of things you love about your partner. Just write and paste them in your booklet. It will serve as an ongoing reminder of the reasons you fell in love with your significant other. 3. A message in
