Exposé!!! Don’t Let Emotions Reign Over Logic

“If you are emotionally attached to your tribe, religion or political leaning to the point that truth and justice become secondary considerations, your education is useless. Your exposure is useless. If you cannot reason beyond petty sentiments, you are a liability to mankind.” Dr. Chuba

Emotions versus reason – it is one of the oldest and most epic standoffs we know. A common puzzle to most people. Up to this day, people don’t know where to draw the line – making emotional or logical decisions. Take yourself back to those dreadful resolves you have made and pondered what was I thinking? Well, there is a high possibility you were not thinking and you merely acting on emotions, not logic. A social science researcher Brenel’ Brown says, “Belonging is the innate human desire to be part of something larger than us.” My sixth sense tells me you must be wondering what sense of belonging has anything to do with emotion versus logic. Let me explain! Without carefully guiding your yearning to belong – whether political, cultural or religious, logic can slowly fly outside the window. Prolonged emotional dependence on culture, religion, and politics has conditioned us to place a very high value on people’s views rather than logic.

There is a reason why manipulators use religion, culture or politics to control people’s opinions. We are encouraged to base both major life decisions and lifestyle choices upon how we feel. Which explains why people get emotionally attached – we allow our emotions and whims to lead us rather than logic. In any case, where you see someone or yourself lean on or get too emotionally attached to a political, religious person or culture views that you defy truth – your decisions and reasoning become a swirl beneath emotional reaction. So in essence people tend to pick and choose truth – receive things that make us feel good and reject things that don’t. Be rest assured that emotions are ruling your actions and have authority over logic.  Here you have to understand carefully, remove the defensive blanket and blinkers – clear your mind and let this information sink in.

Putting truth above feelings can be easier said than done in an environment that constantly pushes us to follow our heart.  Ever wondered why there is so much prosperity gospel, propaganda and cultural brainwash but people in their numbers still blindly believe. The key they use is to tell you what you want to hear which feeds your heart and emotions. Don’t try to edit truth to mesh with your own emotions and partialities. So, if you are attached to any group let’s say political, religion or culture do not let your emotions cloud your judgement. Adopting such a mentality can be toxic, which flushes reasoning and logic down the drain. Best decisions are made when there is a balance between emotions and logic.

  2. Very insightful and true most of the times our sense of judgement is overwhelmed by our emotions, we tend not to think things through but rather give in to our emotional impulses only to realize our mistake when its too little too late. If only we could set our emotions aside and think life would turn out differently for us.
